Part 8 : Astray

“Thank you for letting me stay with you until I figure things out” Erica said before taking a sip of her coffee. Amber took a seat next to her. “You don’t have to thank me E. You can stay as long as you like. If you want to you can even move in. I just can’t believe Trevor did that to you.” “Me either, but it wasn’t like I wasn’t cheating on him too...I just didn’t get caught. This just means that we have some serious issues we need to fix or that we don’t need to be together. After losing the baby we just fell apart...I don’t know what to do.” “You guys just need time be apart right now. Get your thoughts together and then talk to him.”

“I wouldn’t even know where to start. It feels like I’m dreaming and to sleep with Cassidy of all people.” “Who is she?” “Winston’s ex. She lied about being pregnant with his baby and they had this big falling out about it.” Amber made a face. “Since when did you live in a soap opera? I swear I should have stayed in Willow Creek. My life is so boring now.” Leave it Amber to make light of things. Fighting back a smile Erica took another sip of her coffee. “Seriously, everything is a mess and I think me and Trevor are not going to make this time around. I just need to stop lying to myself and end things. I’m not happy anymore.” “So what? You’re going to go run into Winston’s arms?” “No, I need some time to myself...away from men. And like you said move away from Willow Creek. I need a break…”

Winston rolled off Violet and onto the bed out of breath. “I can’t believe we been at this all night” he said in between breaths. “Me too. I’m sorry I’m using you like this but with everything that happened...this is my escape.” “Being used never felt so good.” They shared a laugh. “I am sorry you are going through all of this. Even though we ended on bad terms I wouldn’t wish this on you.” “It’s my fault. I need to pick better guys to invest in. The only good thing I had was you and I messed that up.” For so long he wanted to know that she knew he was a better choice. “Is that what you came to town to tell me?” “Part of it as you now know. I missed you and everything that we use to do and just how you loved me but I didn’t realize that until you left. I was so use to the bad guy that I didn’t know how handle the good guy. But I know I’m too late.” He turned on his side to face her. “What if your not too late.” She turned to face him. “What do you mean? I thought you were in love with someone else.” “I am, but I always have that what if in the back of mind and I want to know what it will feel like if we were together.” “Winston...please don’t play with my emotions right now. I don’t think I can handle any more pain.” He took her hand. “I’m serious. We should give each other a try and take it one day at a time. The woman I want is married and I doubt she’s getting a divorce anytime soon so I should move on and I want to with you.” She was speechless. “No…” “Yes I want to!!!” Violet squealed before kissing him.

Trevor sat on the couch by the front door still in shock at what happened at the party. Cassie had some explaining to do but it was just as much his fault as it was hers. He looked around at the empty house with a looming feeling that this would be his new reality. The one person that truly had his best interest at heart was beyond hurt and it was by him. And that was from her finding out about him sleeping with a woman. There was knock at the door. With slow legs he opened the front door to see it was Kane. “Can I come in?” “Why not, the misses isn’t home anyway.” Kane walked in not knowing how to console him while at the same time of being happy his wife was gone.

“I came to see how you were doing? I saw the slap at the party. Did you tell her about us?” “Don’t flatter yourself. No I didn’t tell her about us. Some woman I met name Cassie that apparently knows Erica told her that we slept together.” Maybe coming to see if he was ok was a bad idea. “You slept with someone besides me?” Kane asked trying to swallow his anger. “I guess. We went out drinking and I woke up at her house naked the next morning...and while I was drunk she took pictures.” Kane laughed. “I don’t see how anything I told you was funny.” “It’s funny because the sneaky bitch set you up. You ever think she had some ill feelings towards Erica and that you were just a pawn in her game for revenge? Woman are so vindictive.” Trevor thought it over. “Erica is in the house most days. Why would someone want revenge on her?” “Although I hate to admit it but Erica is attractive for a female….maybe some guy looked at her the wrong way.” A picture of her with someone else danced in his head. He got to his feet to gather his keys. “Where are you going?” “I need to talk to her. I’m not going to lose my wife to someone else.” Kane was confused as to why he still wanted her in the first place. “Do you even know where she is?” “I have a good idea.”

Cassidy pulled up in front of Bri’s house trying to call her one last time before she knocked on the door. Voicemail. Angry she got out the car to go bang on the front door. Within moments the door swung open with Jax looking confused. “I’m glad someone knows how to answer the door since no one can pick up the phone!” “What are you talking about?” “I have been calling your wife for the past few days with no answer. I mean is she mad at me? She told me she was going to meet me at the club and didn’t show up!” “Can you stop yelling I am right here. I have a massive headache and you are not making it better.” “Well just let me in so I can talk to her then.” “I can’t” Cassidy was confused. “What do you mean I can’t.”

“She’s not here. We got into a big fight and she left in the middle of the night. I haven’t been able to reach her since.” “That’s not like Bri to just run away from her problems. She’s not even taking my calls and she always answers or calls me back if she misses my call.” “Then I guess you don’t know your best friend like you thought. Now if you excuse me I’m going to lay back down.” Cassidy was stuck in place as he shut the door in her face. Something did not sit well with her and something in her gut was telling her everything wasn’t ok. She knew what she had to do.

Logan tried to peel himself from bed without waking Crissy but failed when she turned over opening her eyes. “Good Morning” she said moving the hair out of her face. “Good morning. I didn’t mean to wake you I was going to go get dressed.” “It’s ok I was getting up anyway. I’m sorry about last night if I ruined anything for you….I didn’t know you were seeing someone. I just wanted you.” “It takes two people to have sex and it’s not like I didn’t want you either, and me and her weren’t a thing yet just went on a couple of dates is all.” “Did I make you forget about her last night and this morning?” she smiled. Bless her young heart. “Yeah you did.” “We can do it again whenever you want Logan...I just want to be there for you.” “Thank you. I’m going to get dressed and I will call you later.” Crissy looked like a wounded puppy. “I promise to call you. You do know how to get home from here right?” “Yeah. I will see myself out.” She got out of bed to get dressed. Not waiting for her to leave he gathered some clothes and went into the bathroom locking the door behind him. Taking a deep breath he dialed Violet’s number. After a few rings her voice was on the other end. “Hello?” “Violet you picked up. It’s me Logan.” “I know who you are. What do you want?” “You never let me explain last night about what happened.” “What is there to explain? We were suppose to be dating and you end up falling into some pussy the moment I turn my back.” “It didn’t mean anything to me...it was just sex and I was drunk.” “Classic. The only reason I answered was only to tell you that the guy you saw me with decided he wanted to give us a try and I want  to as well. So, that means for you that you don’t call me again and to lose my number.” “I can’t do that Violet.” “Sounds like a personal problem to me. Goodbye Logan.” The line went dead. No one ever turned him down or walked away from him. His ego wouldn’t allow it. In anger he threw his phone at the nearest wall breaking it into pieces.

Just for a moment Amber made her forget about everything that was going on around her as they watched some T.V and ate ice cream. “How do you not know that her ass is fake. I mean come on-” Amber’s comment was interrupted by a knock at the door. “I swear I can’t just be left alone on the weekends.” Amber put her ice cream down and opened the door. “Erica it’s for you.” Who could be coming to the house for her? Putting her ice cream down she walked over to the door to see it was Trevor. She walked outside closing the door behind her. “How did you know I was here?” “Not that hard to guess where you would be. We need to talk.” “I don’t know If I’m ready to talk about what happened.” “I just don’t want to lose you Erica. We been through so much to end things now.” “Trevor we have a problem that neither one of us are talking about. To be honest you were not the only one that cheated.”

He laughed. “You remember that conversation we had by the fireplace?” he asked. “Yeah. What about it?” “Moving wasn’t going to fix things was it?” “No, I wanted to believe it would change things but we both know that we fell apart a long time ago.” He wasn’t going to tell her about Kane just yet. “Do you think it’s too late to start over for real this time? No lies.” “How can we work after this if we can’t even trust each other. We need some time apart and I don’t know for how long.” “Does this mean we are getting a divorce? I don’t want to lose you.” “I need time and you should take some time too to see if I’m where you want to be. I will be getting some things from the house later and stay with Amber until I figure out my next step.” “Why do I feel like this is goodbye?” “I promise you it’s not. After we spend some time apart we can meet up and talk about things and see where we stand.” They both started to tear up. He took her into his arms giving her a kiss on the forehead. “I will always love you no matter how we end up.” Erica held back her words as he walked to his car to drive away.

Neal laid in bed trying to recover from his headache. He had a little too much to drink the night before. The guilt was starting to eat him alive. He missed Bri so much but he knew what he did was right. He couldn’t risk her telling everyone like Marissa planned to do before he killed her too. He looked at his hands wondering how he turned into a murder. It was only a matter of time before everything was going to catch up to him. With Jax in town and Cassidy sniffing around he could hear the jail cell door closing him in. Then something on T.V caught his attention. Grabbing the remote he turned up the volume horrified at what was going on. The news was broadcasting that a body had been found in the same area he dumped Bri’s body. They still had not identified the victim but he knew it was Bri. It was time to leave. He quickly got to feet and rushed to pack some things so he can skip town.

Cassidy walked into the town’s Police Station with a strange feeling in the pit of stomach. She tried to calm herself before she got to the front desk swallowing the lump forming in her throat. When she got there she blurted out “I like to report a missing person….”
