Slowly Erica opened her eyes adjusting to the light coming through the blinds. “Shit!” she shot to her feet. It was morning already? Erica looked down to see Winston sleeping soundly on the floor. Trevor. With her heart beating fast she ran to the front door to see if his car was outside. How could she be so careless? To her surprise he wasn’t even home yet. It made her wonder what he would be doing out so late but she didn’t have time to ponder the thought. Winston had to go now. Collecting his things she woke him up. “Do I have to?” he mouthed through a dry mouth. “Winston! You have to go before Trevor gets home.” He slowly sat up and got to his feet. He wasn’t the only one that was awake. Her eyes were glued to his manhood. Tearing her eyes away she threw his clothes at him. “You have to get out now and put that thing away please.” He laughed. “You were singing a different tune last night. You sure you don’t want to say hello.” “Stop messing around Winston this is serious. I should have never let you in the house.” “I’m sorry, I just needed to see you. Cassidy was never pregnant in the first place” he spat as he zipped up his pants. “You serious?...Call me later. For now just go please.” After he put his shirt on he gave her a kiss on the cheek and left. Looking at the time it read eight. Taking a quick look around for any remaining evidence she shot upstairs to shower.
Bri walked into H&H Cafe to see Jax sitting in the back drinking coffee. “You bring the information?” She asked taking a seat. “Good Morning to you as well and yes.” He leaned over and grabbed a folder out of his bag. “Everything I have on the mystery guy. Are you ok?” “No, I can hardly sleep without thinking about him with a man. Every time he leaves the house I’m wondering if he is going to go and see him. I’m trying hard not to say anything, but the more time passes the more I want to say something to him.” “Can I ask you something?” “ What’s that?” “ How well do you know your husband?” “Well I use to be sure I knew but now that I found out this information I’m not so sure. Why?” “ I tried to you warn you earlier that this could get ugly. If I find out anything more than just this affair….will you want to know?” “But your job is done. I don’t think I could handle anything else from this man.” “Free of charge. Even if you don’t want to know more I just need to know If you are ok with me still investigating further.” “Do what you want. Thank you for this.” Bri got up to order some coffee before leaving.
Violet walked into a cute breakfast nook to see Logan waiting for her. “When you said date I didn’t think you meant out for breakfast.” He smiled. “Why not? A date doesn’t always mean dinner and a movie. I was surprised you called me last night.” “Right this way please” a chipper waitress said approaching them. “I figure I try something new. The guy you saw me with decided he didn’t want to hear what I had to say so, I’m free.” “You still have feelings for him?” “Nothing I can’t get over with the right person.” “Very nice answer. Order whatever you want and maybe after we can go do something you always wanted to do.” “I’m sorry, are you trying to buy my love?” “No just trying to show you they’re no limits with me.” This shut her up. “Did I say something wrong?” “No….I’m ready to eat.”
Winston pulled up front of his home exhausted from last night. The whole thing was blur after dinner was over. Cassidy danced in his head. He still couldn’t get over the fact that he was really going to believe that she was pregnant. Trying to think of anything other than her his thoughts were interrupted with a knock on the window. His other half was looking down at him. Surprised he rolled down the window. “Wesley?” “Not happy to see your big brother?” “By a minute and no I’m not. We didn’t leave off on good terms the last time. What are you doing here?” “We both know Violet picked the better brother but it seems she ran off and I feel like she might have ended up at your door. Am I wrong?” Winston got out the car. “No, she’s inside I think.” “Who did you spend the night with?” “You think I would really tell you?” “ Why not?” “Because you think we are playing some sort of game. I’m not letting you steal her like you did Violet.” Wesley laughed. “I can’t help if they see me and want the better brother.” Winston opened the door. “Violet!” No response. “I guess she’s not here.” “Where would she go? I thought you said she was here.” Winston remembered what she told him at dinner. “Maybe she’s out with the guy that asked her out last night.”
Trevor woke to the smell of pancakes. His favorite. Looking over at the clock on the night stand it was nine. He was supposed to have been home. Hopefully Erica was sound asleep. Getting dressed Kane walked in holding a plate full of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. “I was going to surprise you with breakfast, but I see you’re already up.” “I don’t have time to eat anything. I’ve stayed long enough.” Kane sat the food down. “ Can’t you see that I’m trying?” “That’s the point Kane I don’t want you to try. This was fun at first but now at this point it’s blackmail.” “I know I’m not the only one who enjoys it.” Trevor didn’t respond as he put his jacket on. “You can make this easier by just leaving her. Life would be so much better.” “I can’t do this anymore Kane if you want to tell her and destroy my life then go ahead.” Kane walked over to him. “I don’t want to hurt you.” The trap again. The closer Kane got the weaker he became. Kane started kissing his neck. He sank to the bed with Kane on top of him.
Bri knocked a few times on Cassidy’s door before it opened. She stepped inside the dark house closing the door behind her. “Tell me what happened.” “He knows I’m not pregnant.” Bri wanted to say I told you so but instead sat next to her. “How did he find out?” “He brought a test over here and wanted me to take it in front of him but instead of taking it I just told him.”
“At least you told him. It probably would have made things worse if you actually took the test and he saw it.” “I don’t know what to do B. I just wanted him but everything is messed up.” “The best thing you can do is forget him for a while and work on you….and maybe you guys will find each other again.” “All this started after I saw Erica in the park that day.” Then Cassidy got an idea. Grabbing her phone she sent a text to Trevor. Payback was in order. “How do you feel about going out tonight?” she asked Bri with a smirk on her face. “I need to get out the house right now anyway but I need to do something first.”
“Something you always wanted to do is walk in the park?” Logan asked. “I can do this anytime but I want to take things slow. I always rush into things with guys before thinking, so for now the park it is. Maybe we can go out tonight?” They stopped walking. Logan faced her. “Can I kiss you at least? I been wanting to do it ever since I laid my eyes on you.” Violet thought it strange that he didn’t answer her question but why not. “Ye-” She couldn’t get out her answer fast enough before his lips were on hers. Time stopped and everything around them fell silent as her heart raced. Her lips lingered when he broke the kiss. That never happened before. “When do you want to go out tonight? I will pick you up.” She was speechless. “You must be the next victim” They were interrupted by a woman.
Trevor saw he got a text from Cassie inviting him out to the club later that night. He texted back a simple yes before heading into the house. Erica was nowhere to be found. Thinking she was sleep he headed upstairs to an empty bed. Just then the bathroom door opened and she came out dressed. “Hey love….long night?” she asked drying her hair with a towel. “Yeah, I was tired and ended up falling asleep at the desk.” “Not the first time you’ve done that. You want some breakfast? I will fix you something before I head out.” “Where are you going?” “ I need to run a few errands and then I’m going to the cafe to work on my book.” “No, I just want to take a shower and lay down.” Erica made a face. “Are you wearing new cologne?”. His heart raced fast as he thought of a quick lie. “No, some guy at the office cakes the stuff on and has the whole office smelling like him.” Thinking nothing of it she walked away to find her shoes. His heart dropped to his feet. That was too close of a call.
Neal walked out the gym to a familiar face. “Nathan Curtis or should I call you what Neal” Jax said walking over to him. “You think a simple name change would make people forget what you did to Marissa.” “I will tell you like I told everyone else that asked me. I didn’t do anything to Marissa. She ran out on me.” “Why can’t you just tell everyone where the body is so we can put her to rest already.” “I’m trying to move on with my life and here you go bothering me. Don’t you think that if they found anything that I would be behind bars? The whole situation messed up my life as well….her leaving destroyed everything.” “My sister would never just up and leave without a word to her family.” “It was three years ago Jax go back to the hole you crawled from. I finally found a place where no one knows me or the past. I’m happy.” “What about Marissa? You think she is happy? I won’t rest until you pay for what you did to her.” Neal watched as he walked away steaming on the inside. Just when he thought he was clean from the past it was slowly creeping back into the picture. He couldn’t let it get to Bri. Neal continued to the car to go home.
Both Violet and Logan came crashing down back to earth to eye the woman interrupting the moment. “Who are you?” Violet asked annoyed. “One of his many exes blinded by love and money. Don’t let it fool you he is the devil.” “I remember you cheating on me with a friend of yours and now you’re bitter because I moved on.” “I have scars to prove it. Please stay away from him.” Violet watched as tears started to pool in her eyes. Maybe she was serious. “She’s just crazy. Come on...she just wants us back together” He lightly put his arm around her waist pulling her in the other direction. The look in her eyes said otherwise as she looked back at her walking away. If this was going to turn into anything she was going to take things even slower.
Bri sat in the kitchen waiting for Neal to get home. It was time to confront him on the situation. She couldn’t keep it in anymore. It was eating her alive. Right on time the front door opened with him dropping his gym bag by the door. “Love I’m home!” “In the kitchen!”. He walked in to see her swollen eyes with tears coming down. “Baby what’s wrong?” he rushed over to her. “We need to talk Neal.” He took a seat wondering what was going on. Bri placed the folder she got from Jax on the table without saying anything. He opened the folder to see a picture of him and Kane kissing outside his house. He turned to stone looking at the picture. “Where did you get this? Have you been following me?” “The question is how long has this been going on? I heard the damn phone call between you and him!” she got to her feet and began to pace. “Why the hell are you listening to my phone calls!” “You are the one cheating on me and you are worried about a damn phone call! And with a man Neal….now I need to go get tested because of you! I’m not enough huh?” Neal didn’t know how to respond everything was happening so fast. “Can we just sit down and talk about this like adults please.”
“No! We are past sitting down and talking.” A image of Marissa came to mind as a sense of deja vu washed over him. This was their last argument before she ran off. “Here I am thinking we are happy with a baby on the way and you’ve been cheating on me all along! Even after trying to fit into your stuck up family because I’m black….wait until they find out you’re gay!” “Calm down...It’s not good for the baby.” He walked over to her grabbing her into a bear hug. “Get off me!” She fought but he wouldn’t let her go. “You’re only with me to use me as a cover up….”she realized. Her heart began to shatter into thousand pieces. Neal began to cry as his grip got tighter pushing her face into his chest. Bri tried to break free from his grip, but her strength was no match for his. He turned a deaf ear to her muffled cries as she thrashed about…..
